During the period of COVID movement restrictions we spent a lot of time walking on Hampstead Heath. Through Spring and Summer, wildflowers filled the meadows, filled us with joy and gratitude and I knew I had to paint them. I chose to create these paintings by cutting up and weaving together two painted flowerscapes.
The paintings are all made on vintage book paper. If you look closely you will discover bits of text and symbols – unexpected bits of fun. The weave adds a sense of movement and naturally entwines the meadow greens with the flowers.
A delicate slice of cow parsley that flourishes on Hampstead Heath during late Spring/ early Summer. The vivid green stripes with flashes of gold add a sense of drama to the delicate lacy texture of the flowers.
