Shilpa Agashe and Claire Hankey have been collaborating as visual artists since 2023, developing a shared practice rooted in their connection to their local natural environments. Shilpa’s work is informed by walking and nature journaling on Hampstead Heath, while
Claire explores water, place, and memory through her walks along the Thames Estuary.
Working from a central concept or idea, they begin by responding to the theme individually before exchanging their initial pieces. Each artist then reinterprets and builds upon the other’s work through drawing, painting, collage, or image transfer; cutting, layering, or
reimagining it entirely.
Their collaborative practice balances autonomy with interdependence. The resulting works evolve through processes that echo the natural world—growth, decay, and regeneration—creating layered compositions shaped by ongoing exchange.

● A Tale of Two Places – a body of work reflecting their respective local landscapes, considering these environments as sites of quiet beauty, resilience, and complex ecological relationships
● Little Stories – a series of intimate assemblages combining painting, cyanotype, image transfer, and drawing, each piece evoking a distinct sense of place
