For this installation we wanted to explore the metaphor of human connection presented by the telephone box. The beautifully restored box itself presented us with interesting possibilities to create a display. We decided on two displays that illustrate the nature of human communication.
The hanging display is composed entirely of our botanically inspired, collaborative artworks. They illustrate the simple human desire to connect and create something together, and how rewarding an experience that can be.
The floor display features handwritten notes and experiences about written communication shared in a survey conducted by us. As we collected these notes and survey feedback for our installation, we embarked on a journey through many life stories, sparking meaningful conversations about the role of written communication in preserving and sharing our personal narratives.
I had so much installing this work- it was a real challenge to work in such a tiny space. Two brains are better than one! I love how the shadows from the bars cut across the cards and collage, that was something I hadn’t considered and is a lovely surprise! x
